Hello
I am sure that we all understand the meaning of less than 3 feet or more than 3 miles and why it is necessary.
But why when we combine 2 x hives (or possibly more) can we move them more than 3 feet and less than 3 miles and get away with it?
Regards
Alan

hi Alan i normally use the newspaper method and block the entrance with fresh grass by the time in dries out so the bees can come and go it seems ok. If you combine 3 or more into one hive you can just dump them in there is no in fighting due to the many different smells.

The 3ft 3 mile rule is something i have never belived in a few bees might get a little lost but thats about it. I have a friend who has bees on a narrow boat thats on the move most of the time and her bees do ok
